Unused, mint in box 1965 Fabulous Jewel Tone Handbag by General Crafts. Box reads: No. 905 Flowers Natural Fabric. These kits were manufactured in the 1960s after Enid Collins’ themed box bags and linen totes rose to the heights of popularity. You can follow the directions or make it your own. This beauty still has it’s sequins, stones, and the turn lock closure in the original bag that has never been opened. Every piece is guaranteed to be present. Canvas bag has mahogany wood bottom and plastic double handles. Make this bag your self (by number, even!) with NO SEWING and NO STITCHING! Made in the U.S.A.

There are three sheets of paper included. One is the folded up instruction sheet. There is also a tri fold brochure showing you other styles of Jewel Tone kit handbags. Including the often seen Butterfly, Owl and my favorites, Travelogue and the Poodle. It’s a nice reference guide. There is an extra sheet advertising the new styles available in black.

Measurements

Finished bag is 11 inches by 12 inches not including handles.

The box is 13 inches squared and 4 inches deep.

Condition

Mint in Box! There is some wear to the box, but otherwise it’s good as new.

I made a wholesale bulk purchase of Mr. & Mrs. Jenkins clothing and accessories. So many items came to us from this couple that eventually we all began crying out: “Jenkins” while pricing or selling much of their things. I was particularly fond of this hand painted tie dating to the 1940s and decided it must be shared with the world. It sat on my desk for a while when one of my friends excited exclaimed: “There’s a signature on that tie!” (What do you want, she’s into calligraphy.) Lo an behold, when you turn this tie to the side it morphs from a colorful urn like set of squiggles into Edwin Jenkins signature and it’s reverse with the center of the tie acting as a mirror of sorts. Make this tie part of your collection and let Edwin Jenkins, Attorney at Law (as his card I found in a suit pocket alerted me) live on forever.

Measurements

52 inches in length

4.5 inches wide in front

2.5 inches wide in back

Condition

Great shape with only slight discoloration in the lining which can not be seen while wearing.

Grade: Very good

Charming engraved Victorian pin reads: “Hattie.” This brooch was made from an 1883 Morgan Silver dollar. The reverse of the brooch still bears it’s original Lady Liberty Head, E Pluribus, a boarder of stars and the year 1883. There is a very small letter M on Lady Liberty’s neck indicating that this was in fact, a Morgan Silver dollar. The style of pin back, with the pointed end extending past the edge of the coin denotes that the coin was converted to jewelry sometime shortly after it was crafted. Certainly before the tuen of the century.

Measurements

Coin measures 1.5 inches in diameter.

Condition

There is minor surface scratching throughout including heavy wear in one spot (center front) and many deep scratches to the back. Someone also carved J.A. into the face of Lady Liberty,

Grade: Good

This charming straw hat of the late 1930s or early 1940s will undoubtedly win you the best hat prize at your next Kentucky Derby party. Tilt topper style hat of fine straw is accented with a yellow velvet band and half bow in back. The brim is sprinkled with yellow millinery flowers with three strategically placed bouquets. Velvet covered C shaped wire on each side of the inside of the hat, hold this hat on one’s head.

I have experienced some confusion selling this style of hat on the internets. Particularly this one. It is not meant to fit down on your head like a stocking cap, but rather to perch over one’s brow, at a jaunty tilt.

Measurements

This is a non head sized hat (although it is marked a 22) that will fit any head size at any angle of your choice or straight on (if you’re a weirdo). My milliner friend calls them doll or toy hats…

Length of hat 12 inches

Width of hat 13 inches

Height of crown 1.5 inches

If you are accustomed to using centimeters, I suggest you use a conversion chart. I like this one:

http://www.manuelsweb.com/in_cm.htm

Condition

Very good to excellent vintage condition. There is a little soiling to the inside on the grosgrain ribbon near the front. Presumably it is makeup from sitting on one’s forehead.

Charming World War Two era tilt topper hat fresh from my personal collection. Navy and white straw on a faille fabric lined base. Unique upside down bow front and center. The creativity of this hat extends into the pattern on the veil. A thick grosgrain ribbon with an elastic connection hold this chapeau jauntily upon the wearer’s head.

I have experienced some confusion with these hats on eBay. They are not meant to fit down on your head like a stocking cap, but rather to perch over one’s brow, at a jaunty tilt.

Measurements

This is a non head sized hat that will fit any head size at any angle of your choice or straight on (if you’re a weirdo). My milliner friend calls them doll or toy hats…

Length of hat 10 inches

Width of hat 9 inches

Height of hat 4 inches

Veil falls 10 inches from center brim

Inside circumference of hat is 19 inches

If you are accustomed to using centimeters, I suggest you use a conversion chart. I like this one:

http://www.manuelsweb.com/in_cm.htm

Condition

Very good to excellent vintage condition. Besides the pancake makeup spot on the inside of the hat, this hat in in great shape. No breaks in the veil. There is a little dust in some of the nooks and crannies. I can also see a few loose threads inside and I just noticed a very small spot on the grosgrain ribbon band that holds the hat to ones head.
