Description…

This pillow cover is absolutely adorable. It dates to the 1920s or early 1930s and features an embroidered flapper. She is outlined with a twisted chain stitch. Complete with a cloché hat, boyish tie, a compact in one hand and a powder puff in the other. She’s also been tinted with some sort of faint fabric paint. Encircling this bee stung beauty is a ring of flowers heavy on the French knots. Two layers of gathered lace ruffles decorate the edge. One section on the side back is open so you can stuff it, or slide in a previously made pillow.

Measurements…

The pillow portion is 10 inches in diameter. From the lace edges it is 11.5 inches in diameter.

Condition…

Considering the age of this delicate piece, it is actually in quite remarkable condition. There are a few places on the face that I thought were spots, but are only the knots of the black thread showing through the thin fabric. I just noticed a pin hole on the reverse. One French knot has come undone.

Grade: Very Good
