Beautiful ribbons of round and baguette cut rhinestones create a stylized feather brooch by Marcel Boucher.  This brooch is marked © Boucher with the inventory number 8135P.  It is said that the copyright symbol was added to the Boucher stamp after 1955.  I would guess that this is a late 1950s or early 1960s piece.  Bright silver toned rhodium plating simply shines.

We replaced one of the baguette stones, but it is underneath one of the ribbons and you can’t see it.

Fantastic three dimensional brooch has an unfoiled, tear drop, topaz colored stone front and center.  Graduated swirls of aurora borealis rhinestones and one of topaz colored rhinestones.  Navette cut rhinestones alternate shades of topaz.  Brushed gold toned metal.

Brooch is 2 inches long and `1.75  inches at it’s widest point.

Condition

I dare say this pin is near mint condition.  Strong and sturdy pin and clasp, and no chips to stones.  No scratches to the aurora borealis finish.  After looking hard enough, I found the only noticeable flaw.  A small amount of excess glue.

Breathtaking brooch in pink with prong set rhinestone accents appears to be by Miriam Haskell. Upon closer inspection, one finds a heart shaped, applied plaque on the reverse that is marked Amourelle ©. The mistake is easily made as jewelry marked Amourelle was manufactured by Kramer of New York in the early 1960s. Wonderfully created by former Miriam Haskell head designer Frank Hess after his departure from her firm. Pieces marked Amourelle were only manufactured for a few years, which explains to their scarcity. These pieces are hard to find, so snatch this one up while it lasts.
Soft pink seed beads are wired to filigree and assembled in three floral shapes. Pink art glass beads (Venetian? Murano?) have wavy white lines. Filigree has floral motif with fleur de lis. Fantastic design in magnificent detail.

Condition

This brooch has a few flaws to note. The large rhinestone has some visible foil loss. There are a few spot of corrosion on some of the wire. It’s visible in some photos, but looks much worse than it does in person. I thought there was seed bead loss on the medium flower, but I can’t find any loose wires in that area. None of these flaws are noticeable while wearing.

1960s era crystal beaded earrings with faceted black glass accents and a circle of faux pearls set in a gold toned metal. Simply marked HOLLYCRAFT in all caps on the back of the earring clips. Quite unusual design for this maker.

Including beaded hang these earrings are 2 inches in length and the oblong frame is 1.25 inches in width.

Condition

These earrings appear to have a manufacturing flaw. One earring has an extra crystal and the metal that it is attached to, is bent.

Swirly silver toned, brushed metal brooch has a braided metal trim. A spray of black diamond marquise cut rhinestones is riveted to the oval base. Two clear rhinestones are accented in different settings. One glued and one prong set. Well constructed piece is marked on the reverse with a rectangular plaque that reads:

Circa 1950s vintage clip on earrings by Hobé. A prong set ribbon of small chanton cut aurora borealis stones is framed with similar, larger stones. One marquise cut amethyst colored rhinestone accent. Set in gold toned metal. Clip back has plastic comfort roller often found on Hobe earrings of this period.

Earrings are nearly 1 1/2″ in length and 1 1/8″ at their widest.

Condition

Where the roller meets the back of the earring, there is a worn spot in the metal plating. It’s visible in the photo. On the front of that same earring, in the a/b ribbon is an extra chunk of metal. It appears to be a manufacturing flaw. You will find it after the third small rhinestone from the top of the ribbon. Truly the thing to turn your demi parure into a full parure or suite!

A 1960s Juliana style bracelet by the firm Delizza and Elster. Prong set bracelet has lovely milk glass marquise cut stones with round reddish pink accents that have an Aurora Borealis finish. The bracelet is assembled with Juliana’s trade mark five articulated links. Gold toned metal has etched links and fold over clasp.

Measurements

Bracelet measures 7 1/2 inches long and nearly 1 inch wide.

Condition

There is some slight scratching to the aurora borealis finish. It is not obvious or noticeable while wearing.

Grade: Very Good

Lovely Hattie Carnegie earrings that I believe date to the 1960s. Triangular earrings have a three dimensional effect. Black dome has a protruding setting in which a relatively large (3/8th of an inch) brilliant rhinestone is prong set. Set in gold toned metal.

Measurements

Earrings measure 1 inch by 1 1/4 inches.

Condition
The stones are flawless and the black textured domes are in great shape as well. The gold toned metal has some wear and general surface scratching. Very minor, but present none the less.

Bursting with fun and frivolity, this large enameled floral brooch has an oval plaque on the reverse marked, Hattie Carnegie. Bright gold toned metal. Circa 1960s. Daisy motif?

Condition

The utmost care was not taken when this was enameled. It is rather thin and has a few obvious knicks and wear to many small sections of the edges. However, it could easily brighten up the collar of a vintage cloth coat and no one would notice these flaws.

Grade: Good

This brooch is either in a feather or leaf design with complimentary earrings. Marquise cut stones in pink, purple, olive green and black are set in bright gold toned metal. Chaton cut stones in olive green, shocking pink and amethyst colors with one teeny tiny black stone at the top. These stone are prong set on a separate piece of metal that is riveted to the stem on the reverse of the pin. This creates a three dimensional effect.

D&E Characteristics

Marquise cut stones (except for the black ones) are unfoiled and are in open backed settings, allowing the light to pour through the stones. The riveted piece is another tell tale sign.

I have always loved large and unusual rhinestone jewelry. In the ten years I have been buying and selling vintage costume jewelry for a living, I have not discriminated based on whether pieces are designer signed or unmarked. This proved a wise position as Juliana style jewelry has been discovered. Everyday I find more of my pieces have been confirmed as being made by Delizza and Elster.

Condition
