I made a wholesale bulk purchase of Mr. & Mrs. Jenkins clothing and accessories. So many items came to us from this couple that eventually we all began crying out: “Jenkins” while pricing or selling much of their things. I was particularly fond of this hand painted tie dating to the 1940s and decided it must be shared with the world. It sat on my desk for a while when one of my friends excited exclaimed: “There’s a signature on that tie!” (What do you want, she’s into calligraphy.) Lo an behold, when you turn this tie to the side it morphs from a colorful urn like set of squiggles into Edwin Jenkins signature and it’s reverse with the center of the tie acting as a mirror of sorts. Make this tie part of your collection and let Edwin Jenkins, Attorney at Law (as his card I found in a suit pocket alerted me) live on forever.

Measurements

52 inches in length

4.5 inches wide in front

2.5 inches wide in back

Condition

Great shape with only slight discoloration in the lining which can not be seen while wearing.

Grade: Very good

Charming engraved Victorian pin reads: “Hattie.” This brooch was made from an 1883 Morgan Silver dollar. The reverse of the brooch still bears it’s original Lady Liberty Head, E Pluribus, a boarder of stars and the year 1883. There is a very small letter M on Lady Liberty’s neck indicating that this was in fact, a Morgan Silver dollar. The style of pin back, with the pointed end extending past the edge of the coin denotes that the coin was converted to jewelry sometime shortly after it was crafted. Certainly before the tuen of the century.

Measurements

Coin measures 1.5 inches in diameter.

Condition

There is minor surface scratching throughout including heavy wear in one spot (center front) and many deep scratches to the back. Someone also carved J.A. into the face of Lady Liberty,

Grade: Good

Beautiful ribbons of round and baguette cut rhinestones create a stylized feather brooch by Marcel Boucher. This brooch is marked © Boucher with the inventory number 8135P. It is said that the copyright symbol was added to the Boucher stamp after 1955. I would guess that this is a late 1950s or early 1960s piece. Bright silver toned rhodium plating simply shines.

Measurements

Brooch measures 3.5 inches by 1.25 inches

We replaced one of the baguette stones, but it is underneath one of the ribbons and you can’t see it.

Lovely linen wiggle dress designed by Carol Craig of New York. Nude illusion neckline is bound at the top and trimmed with creamy three dimensional applique. Gusseted sleeves, darts at both the waist and bust as well as the hip. Kick pleat in back. Fascinating, bra covering nude colored inserts can be seen above the applique. Still retains it’s original self fabric belt. So thoughtfully detailed that you will even find a bar tack loop at the front to secure the belt in it’s proper place. Metal zipper is topped with metal hook and thread eye.

Measurements

Bust 32 inches

This belt is the Bee’s Knees! It’s just the thing to let fly at your drop waist while you Charleston the night away…

Swanky Art Deco belt of marbled green celluloid links that alternates pressed metal rectangles with a scrolling floral Art Nouveau motif. Round ball bearing clasp exemplifies the industrial machine age. Further proof that one era doesn’t come to a screeching halt as soon as the next one arrives. They often gently overlap one another. This belt can be worn higher up on a larger waist or lower on a more moderate hip, as it was originally intended. Links can easily be removed to adjust length.

Measurements

Belt adjusts from 40 to 45.5 inches in wearable length.

Celluloid links are 1.5 inches wide and .5 inches tall.

Celluloid medallions are 2 5/8 inches by 2 inches.

Small stamped metal links measure 1.25 inches by .75 inches.

Large stamped metal links are 1.75 inches by 1 inch.

Condition

Minor surface scratching throughout. There may have originally been some extra ornamentation on the medallions as they have metal rivets at the top and bottom. One connecting link is slightly bent. There are two extra connecting links. One on the clasp and one on the rings the clasp connects to.

Grade: Very Good
Wasson and Co. in Indianapolis. Trimmed with navy grosgrain ribbon that is tied in a knot, creating a little visual interest in the reverse of this hat. Upturned brim has a single silk chiffon rose in pink and green with greenish-yellow velvet leaves and stems of green bias cut fabric. This hat can be worn at a variety of angles, creating a different look every time it is worn. I prefer it low on one side and high on the other.
